Swedish Massage – Uses effleurage and friction techniques with body oils to glide along the skin and move and manipulate tissues beneath.
Lomi Massage – Although Sky does not formally do Lomi Lomi, as she did not study in Hawaii from its native originators, many methods and techniques have found their way from this ancient art to her practice. Lomi Lomi is a Native Hawaiian style of massage and holistic medicine approach that focuses on the water and fluidity in the body and movements in multiple directions as once. This has a sedative affect on the nervous system causing deep relaxation. Nicknamed the Massage of a Thousand Hands, let the waves crash over you with healing touch.
Deep Tissue – Sky’s practice in deep tissue focuses on the deep layers of muscle and connective tissue, using tissue warming techniques like deep transverse friction, heat and sustained deep pressure on relevant points in the body. Can be done on all clients since this modality much be highly flexible to a clients needs and personal limitations.
Shiatsu – Acupressure based and combines sustained pressure with energy work to align deep structures as well as energy channels in the body as observed by traditional Chinese medicine. Traditionally done on the floor with clothes on.
Rocks heated toasty but not too hot, moved across the body with oil. This relaxes, exfoliates and warms the skin and underlying muscles relaxing the mind and opening the body up for deeper and longer lasting work. Sky is trained to observe clients body responses to heat and skilled in her hot stone/ client communication.
