PRE-CARE

Skin must be healthy and strong to receive tattooing. Post surgery, we need 6 months to a year of healing. Scarring must be white and healthy.

POST CARE

After care is very important for producing a beautiful and lasting result. Failure to follow after care instruction may result in infection, pigment loss, scarring, or discoloration. Not following these instructions voids our service contract and could result in the cancellation of your touchup appointment and any future services.

  • Day 1: Apply clean linens to your bed and pillows. You can shower with the bandage on.
  • After 24 hours, remove the bandage. Wash your hands then gently but thoroughly wash your tattoo with mild soap and water using your hands only, do not scrub. Rinse the area and blot dry with a clean towel or paper towel. If possible air dry until the tattoo feels slightly tight approximately 15 minutes to one hour. Once dry, apply Microbalm in a thin coat, rubbing completely into the tattoo. If there is any excess ointment remove it gently with a clean paper towel. Tattoos and skin should feel slightly moistened, not heavily coated.
  • Wash and apply Microbalm to tattoos twice a day for 5-7 days.
  • Bandage the area with a non stick bandage when you have to wear tight fitting clothing like a bra.  Allow skin to be exposed to air or wear loose fitting clothing as much as possible during the healing.
  • Continue washing and ointment application until the area begins to lightly flake and peel usually in 5 to 7 days. Do not pick the flaking skin.
  • Once the skin begins to peel you can discontinue Microbalm and apply an unscented hand lotion such as Lubriderm.

DO

  • Always wash hands before touching the treated area.
  • Remember that you have what is essentially an open wound on your face. Keep it clean!

DON’T

  • DO NOT PICK!!! Allow flaking to naturally come off, picking could lead to scarring/poor color retention because it pulls the color out of your skin and can cause scarring.
  • Don’t apply any product other than the provided aftercare for at least 5-7 days.
  • Don’t work out, garden, swim, do yard work, expose your new tattoo to animals, or sweat excessively for the first 10 days.

What to Expect

Swelling:
Mild swelling, itching, redness, light scabbing, light bruising, and dry tightness can be normal. Ice packs are a nice relief (wrapped in a moist, clean,
lint free towel) and aftercare balm can relieve itching and tightness

Once flaking has happened, pigment can appear to have all faded off. This is due to the buildup of collagen under your skin while your tissues heal. Don’t
worry! Your color will come back as your body reabsorbs the collagen.
